Come Paint a Family Rock Garden at the Blair PTO Family Paint Night

Please join us for a special family evening that allows your family to use their creativity to create a Family Rock Garden.  This is a Free event sponsored by the Blair Parent Teacher Organization.  Each Family member will be able to design, paint and personalize their own rock which combined with the rest of the families’ rocks will depict something spectacular.  Design ideas will be on display and are located below to assist with your creativity.

This is a come and go as you please event, although if you are interested in painting please try to arrive by 7:15pm, to allow enough time to finish your design.

Book exchange:  We encourage you to bring 1, 2, 3, or more gently used books from home that you would like to exchange with other families to freshen up your personal library.

Refreshments:  We will be serving popcorn, lemonade, and water.

All Families can attend one of two options:  Friday January 31, 2020 in the Deerfield Elementary lunch room

Friday January 24, 2020 in the Arbor Park Intermediate School Gym

When to Keep Your Child Home:

Should I keep my child home or send him or her to school? Consider keeping your child home if he or she:

• Has a fever of 100 degrees or higher • Has been vomiting

• Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as: − Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite − Productive coughing, sneezing − Headache, body aches, earache − Sore throat A minor sore throat is usually not a problem, but a severe sore throat could be strep throat even if there is no fever. Other symptoms of strep throat in children are headache and stomach upset. Contact your pediatrician as your child needs a special test to determine if it is strep throat. Keep your child home until his or her fever has been gone for 24 hours without medication. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and expose others unnecessarily to illness. Does my child have the flu?

• The flu is serious! Call your pediatrician at the first sign of flu symptoms, which typically come on suddenly, including: − High fever − Chills − Head ache, body aches, ear ache − Nausea, vomiting − Dry cough If you’re unsure about the best way to treat your child’s cold or flu, ask your school nurse, doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare provider.

                                 Winter Weather Information

Winter weather is upon us and it's time to begin planning for possible weather related school postponements or cancellations.  Blair Community Schools will use two options this year that include cancelling school or postponing with a 90-minute delayed start.  This would be the same as the Friday schedule.

A 90 minute delayed start would be used rarely and called by 7:00 p.m. the night prior to the postponement.  A 90 minute delayed start would be used for the day after a storm or for a late night storm when a minimal amount of time is needed to clear roads.  Blair Kids Academy would open at 8:00 a.m. on these days.

When school is postponed or cancelled, BCS will report school closings to television stations KMTV (3), WOWT (6), KETV (7), and KPTM (42).  BCS will also post information on its website and will call, text, and email parents and guardians of all students.
